It added electrodes to a retractable handle, which lets the scale break down health metrics across your arms, legs, and torso. The Plus keeps that approach but moves its 4.3-inch customizable color screen up to the handle, so the numbers appear closer to eye level. It costs $149 at Wyze's online store, in black or white, and is available now. That is about $30 more than the $119.98 Ultra.\n\nWyze also points to the scale's surface: a conductive indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass top. The company said it allows the scale to take BIA measurements wherever your feet land. BIA, or bioelectrical impedance analysis, estimates body composition by sending a small electrical current through the body and measuring how it travels. Wyze's announcement does not say whether the Plus reads differently from the Ultra.\n\nThe screen move addresses a real annoyance. A display on the floor means looking down past your own belly, while a handle puts the readout at hand height. For a scale built around reading arm, leg, and torso breakdowns, a readable display matters more than it does on a scale that shows one number.\n\nWhether that justifies $30 depends on how often you squint at the old layout. Nothing in the announcement suggests the Plus measures anything the Ultra cannot, so the premium appears to buy convenience. Independent testing would have to show if the numbers are any different.","[\"wyze\",\"smart-scale\",\"consumer-tech\"]","2026-10-19T13:00:00.000Z","2026-10-19T14:20:33.671Z","2026-10-19T14:20:36.130Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"Remove the unsourced October 19 availability date (the source says only 'available starting today'), and drop or support the claim that this is 'a display relocation, not a new sensor', since the source highlights the ITO-coated glass surface without saying whether the original had it, and the draft admits it doesn't know whether the measurements differ.","resolved","consumer-tech",[32,33,30],"wyze","smart-scale",[35],{"name":36,"url":37},"The Verge","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theverge.com\u002Ftech\u002F1013081\u002Fwyze-smart-scale-ultra-bodyscan-plus-handle-display",0,{"sections":40},[41,46,51,56,61,66,70,75,80,85,90,95,100,105],{"name":42,"slug":43,"count":44,"latest_published_at":45},"AI","ai",7040,"2026-10-18T11:00:00.000Z",{"name":47,"slug":48,"count":49,"latest_published_at":50},"Security","security",1011,"2026-10-19T17:00:00.000Z",{"name":52,"slug":53,"count":54,"latest_published_at":55},"Policy","policy",542,"2026-10-19T07:43:19.000Z",{"name":57,"slug":58,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Deals","deals",531,"2026-10-19T17:21:45.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Hardware","hardware",268,"2026-10-19T15:49:37.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":30,"count":68,"latest_published_at":69},"Consumer Tech",242,"2026-10-19T18:10:55.000Z",{"name":71,"slug":72,"count":73,"latest_published_at":74},"Science","science",205,"2026-10-19T10:00:00.000Z",{"name":76,"slug":77,"count":78,"latest_published_at":79},"Startups","startups",134,"2026-10-18T12:02:57.000Z",{"name":81,"slug":82,"count":83,"latest_published_at":84},"Software","software",130,"2026-10-19T17:26:40.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",118,"2026-10-16T15:52:39.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"General","general",86,"2026-10-19T15:44:20.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Gaming","gaming",78,"2026-10-19T12:01:04.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"Reviews","reviews",37,"2026-10-14T10:00:00.000Z",{"name":106,"slug":107,"count":108,"latest_published_at":109},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
