Walmart is rolling out a week of discounts timed to land right alongside Amazon's October Prime Day.
Walmart's "Fall Deals" event runs Oct. 5 through Oct. 11, the same stretch Amazon is using for its fall Prime Day sale. Shoppers don't need a Walmart+ subscription to shop it, though members get early access to the discounts. Once the event starts, Walmart says shoppers can expect up to 50% off home goods, 40% off tech, and 30% off toys. A handful of deals are already live, including Apple AirPods 4 for $99, Beats Studio Pro headphones for $149, and an onn. 65-inch 4K TV for $258.
Retailers have stopped waiting for Amazon to set the calendar. Target is running its own Circle Deal Days on the identical dates, and Walmart's choice to open its sale to every shopper, not just paid members, chips away at the one real perk Amazon uses to drive Prime sign-ups.
Whether Walmart's markdowns beat Amazon's own Prime Day prices is impossible to say yet, since Walmart hasn't published full discount details. For now, the real edge is that no membership is required to shop it.
