Almost none say anything useful about it.\n\nResearchers ran a two-stage LLM classification pipeline over 9,821 annual reports from 1,362 UK listed companies spanning 2020 to 2025, with some early 2026 filings included. They validated the method against 474 human-annotated passages and found high recall. The share of reports mentioning AI risk jumped from 2.8% in 2020 to 41.2% in 2025, and AI adoption disclosures rose from 13.8% to 45.2% over the same period. Named vendor mentions cluster heavily around a handful of providers, with Microsoft named most often.\n\nThe researchers also built a substantiveness classifier to separate real disclosure from boilerplate, and the results are blunt: in 2025, only 4.3% of reports contained AI risk language judged substantive, even though 41.2% mentioned the topic at all. Disclosure quality splits along market lines too. AIM listed firms disclose AI risk far less than Main Market companies, and critical infrastructure sectors like Energy and Data Infrastructure lag the rest.
