Ultimate Ears' clip-on speaker just hit its lowest price ever ahead of October Prime Day.
The Miniroll is down to $49.99 at Amazon, $30 off its $79.99 list price, and price trackers show that's the lowest it has sold for. The puck-shaped speaker weighs just over half a pound and includes a removable rubber strap for clipping onto a backpack, bike handlebar, or shower caddy. It runs about 12 hours per charge over USB-C, carries an IP67 rating against dust and brief dunks, and has a 40-meter Bluetooth range, so you can leave your phone inside while it plays on the patio. Pair two or more Minirolls with UE's PartyUp feature for extra volume or stereo sound.
The catch is what's missing. There's no companion app, which means no equalizer, no codec switching, and no find-my-speaker function - what you hear out of the box is permanent. Bass-heavy tracks like hip-hop and electronic music sound thinner than on a larger speaker, and pushing past roughly 80% volume causes distortion and audible vibration. That's the trade-off plenty of compact clip speakers make at this price: durability and simplicity over control.
A record-low price is still just a price. If you want a rugged speaker to toss in a bag, fine - just don't expect it to double as your main sound system.
