In a Truth Social post, President Trump said he plans to appoint an "AI czar" to lead a new "AI force." He tied the announcement to what he described as growing calls, from across the political spectrum and even within the industry, to slow AI development down. Trump insisted his administration "will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry," promising instead to "cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows." He also called data centers "wealthy and prestigious" and claimed, without offering evidence, that they raise salaries, lower taxes, and make neighborhoods safer.
The proposal reads less like a policy rollout than a rebrand. An "AI czar" and an "AI force" imply oversight, but Trump's own framing promises the opposite: an administration that boosts the industry rather than checks it. That gap between the title and the stated mission is the part worth watching if an actual appointment or executive order ever follows.
For now it is a social media post, not a policy, and who would run this new "force," or what power they would actually have, is anyone's guess.
