The first, posted on launch day, shows the game getting past the splash screen and playing cutscenes fairly well, but with heavy flickering, stuttering and gameplay frame rates around 20 to 30 fps. A second video, 12 hours later, shows gameplay between 30 and 60 fps, still with flickering and stutters. A separate X user, akakevinvro, posted a video claiming a fairly steady 60 fps. Both run on Lichii, an open-source emulator for the Switch and Switch 2 whose GitHub page calls it very experimental.

The hardware matters. The test machine has a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64 GB of RAM and an RTX 4080, far stronger than the Arm-powered handheld the game was built for. Brute force covers a lot of inefficiency, so 60 fps on that rig says little about how the game would run on an ordinary gaming PC. The flicker suggests the emulation is not yet accurate, either.

The more telling detail is where the game files came from. They were reportedly dumped online before release, according to a poster on X named SrLinguicaVIVE, who wrote on November 4 that the dump existed, that it did not yet work in any emulator, and that people should be wary of links claiming to host it. Emulator developers evidently had something to work with from day one.

That sets up a familiar fight. Lichii resembles Yuzu, whose developers settled a legal dispute with Nintendo of America and shut the project down in 2024. Suyu, another emulator, is now defunct too. Nintendo has a long history of going after such projects, while emulator makers argue they do not circumvent its protections. Technical progress was never the main obstacle for these tools; legal exposure was. Whether Lichii follows Yuzu's path is a question for Nintendo's lawyers more than for its programmers.","["emulation","nintendo","switch-2","zelda"]","2026-11-06T11:43:06.000Z","2026-11-08T05:18:42.318Z","2026-11-08T05:18:42.543Z","published",null,[],"gaming",[26,27,28,29],"emulation","nintendo","switch-2","zelda",[31
PCGamer","https://www.pcgamer.com/software/zelda-ocarina-of-time-remake-reportedly-running-at-60-fps-on-pc-just-hours-after-games-official-nintendo-switch-2-release/",0
37,42,47,52,57,62,67,72,77,82,87,92,96,101
"AI","ai",7110,"2026-11-08T14:34:09.000Z
"Security","security",1099,"2026-11-08T15:24:01.000Z
"Deals","deals",620,"2026-11-08T08:00:00.000Z
"Policy","policy",604,"2026-11-07T15:48:26.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",336,"2026-11-08T21:00:00.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",316,"2026-11-08T14:36:39.000Z
"Science","science",222,"2026-11-07T16:19:17.000Z
"Software","software",154,"2026-11-08T15:42:52.000Z
"Startups","startups",150,"2026-11-06T16:50:01.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",125,"2026-11-06T22:15:59.000Z
"General","general",111,"2026-11-08T21:27:29.000Z
"Gaming",94,"2026-11-08T20:52:05.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",38,"2026-10-20T12:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
