Letting an agent generate its own skills mid-episode, by contrast, added just half a point while burning more tokens and extra turns. Splitting the curated package apart showed documents alone added 5.6 points and tools alone added 19.5 points, with the combined effect smaller than the sum of its parts.\n\nThe breakdown matters because it tells you where to spend engineering effort instead of just scaling up. Numerically intensive workflows, the kind full of position sizing and risk math, lean almost entirely on having a working calculator rather than a manual.
