SpaceX Opens a Grok Partner Network With 130-Plus Firms

SpaceX's new Grok partner program lands Nvidia, Apollo and Databricks, but its AI unit's profit came mostly from renting out computing power.

SpaceX has launched the Super Intelligence Partner Network, a program for companies that deploy or build on Grok, its AI system.

More than 130 firms joined at launch, including Apollo, Nvidia, Snowflake, Databricks and Bain. The program follows a quarter in which SpaceX's AI unit turned a profit, mostly from renting out computing power. The announcement as described gives no terms, tiers or revenue numbers for the network itself.

Partner networks are a standard enterprise software move. A vendor signs up consultants, data platforms and investors so that customers have someone to call when they want to build something. The roster fits that pattern: Bain is a consulting firm, Snowflake and Databricks sell data platforms, Nvidia makes the chips most AI systems run on, and Apollo is an investment firm.

The profit detail is the more telling one. Renting out computing power earns money whether or not anyone chooses Grok over a rival model, so a profitable quarter says little about demand for Grok itself. A partner network is one way to build that second leg of the business, by giving corporate buyers a reason to pick Grok over its rivals.

Signing a logo at launch costs little, though. The useful measure is how many of those 130-plus firms ship something customers pay for, and whether that revenue ever outgrows the compute rental that turned the unit profitable.
