Sony's 65-inch Bravia 6 OLED just got $302 cheaper, and you don't have to wait for Prime Day to get it.
Amazon is selling the Sony 65-inch Bravia 6 OLED 4K TV for $1,698, down from its $1,999.99 list price, a 15% discount that started September 26. The Bravia 6 is Sony's OLED play against flagship sets from LG and Samsung, and early reviews have been favorable. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and runs Google TV, which bundles in the Sony Pictures Core app and its library of IMAX Enhanced titles. The discount lands ahead of Amazon's October Prime Day, scheduled for October 6-7.
OLED panels still deliver the sharpest contrast and color of any consumer display tech, and getting one from a name-brand manufacturer under $1,700 is not the norm. Retailers usually save their steepest cuts for Prime Day itself, so a pre-event markdown on a brand-new flagship suggests Sony wants this set moving before the bigger promotional noise arrives.
Whatever Prime Day brings, $1,698 is already a legitimate price for a flagship OLED - buy it on the merits of the TV, not the calendar.
