Samsung says it supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, which keep the screen's refresh rate matched to the graphics card's output. The ports are one DisplayPort 2.1 (Samsung does not advertise its bandwidth), two HDMI 2.1, and a USB hub with two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports. The one-millisecond response time is common on gaming monitors, but the reviewer who flagged the deal called it rare in a 5K model at this price.

Most 5K monitors are pitched at Mac owners shopping for a cheaper stand-in for Apple's Studio Display, with the same 218ppi pixel density. Gaming is a different brief, and price alone does not meet it. The same reviewer tested KTC's sub-$500 5K model last year and found gaming on it atrocious, despite its gaming-ready claims. The dual-mode design here makes practical sense: 5K is heavy work for a graphics card, so dropping to 1440p for a much higher refresh rate gives players a way to trade sharpness for speed.

The obvious rival is LG's 27-inch UltraGear evo 5K Mini LED at $799.99. It has more dimming zones, gets brighter, and accepts USB-C video input with 90W power delivery, so one cable can display and charge a laptop. Its refresh rates are lower (165Hz at 5K, 330Hz at 1440p), a gap the reviewer does not see as much of a downside.

That makes the choice fairly clean. A desktop gamer with a DisplayPort-capable graphics card gets most of the benefit from Samsung's price. Someone docking a laptop may find LG's USB-C connection worth $200. Samsung's single DisplayPort with an unstated bandwidth leaves one question the spec sheet does not answer: what the port can sustain at the top 5K refresh rate.","["monitors","samsung","gaming","deals"]","2026-10-21T14:47:14.000Z","2026-10-21T16:49:58.985Z","2026-10-21T16:50:01.033Z","published",null,[],"deals",[26,27,28,24],"monitors","samsung","gaming",[30
The Verge","https://www.theverge.com/gadgets/1015346/samsung-5k-monitor-gaming-gta-6-usbc-charger-deal-sale",0
36,41,46,51,55,60,65,70,75,80,85,90,94,99
"AI","ai",7054,"2026-10-21T19:53:20.000Z
"Security","security",1032,"2026-10-21T18:26:38.000Z
"Policy","policy",561,"2026-10-21T19:02:49.000Z
"Deals",550,"2026-10-21T15:41:35.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",282,"2026-10-21T15:51:59.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",270,"2026-10-21T19:54:00.000Z
"Science","science",211,"2026-10-21T09:00:00.000Z
"Startups","startups",140,"2026-10-21T18:51:56.000Z
"Software","software",136,"2026-10-21T15:00:00.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",122,"2026-10-21T16:00:00.000Z
"General","general",94,"2026-10-21T18:31:15.000Z
"Gaming",85,"2026-10-21T18:39:52.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",38,"2026-10-20T12:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
