Amazon dropped the 55-inch Samsung M70H Series Mini LED 4K Smart TV to $299.99, a 14% cut from its $347.99 list price. Mini LED backlighting packs thousands of small LEDs behind the panel instead of the handful found in cheap sets, which Samsung says delivers three times brighter highlights and twice the contrast of a standard 4K panel. The TV also switches to a 120Hz mode for gaming, adds a sports-focused Soccer Mode that boosts motion clarity by 40% and turf color by 30%, and streams Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce Now without a console attached. Samsung TV Plus comes preloaded, adding free ad-supported channels out of the box.
Mini LED has mostly lived as the pricier step between basic LED and OLED, rarely dropping below $300 for anything near 55 inches. A cut like this suggests the tech is finally trickling down to budget buyers instead of staying a premium exclusive, and it puts pressure on rivals selling similar panels at higher prices.
This discount lands just ahead of Amazon's early October Prime Day event, where TCL, LG, and Hisense are already running their own Mini LED and QLED deals, so treat $299.99 as an opening bid rather than the final price of the season.
