Rockstar just gave Grand Theft Auto 6 players something to actually listen to besides explosions.
Rockstar posted details on six in-game radio stations on its website: Cocoteo FM for reggaeton and merengue, Back Country Radio hosted by Morgan Wallen, Lana Del Rey, and Jeremy Dufrene, AfroBank FM for African music across the decades, The Chamber 106.6 (a metal station fronted by Slayer's Tom Araya and Kerry King), Flash FM (a pop station hosted by Robyn and model Alex Consani, carried over from Vice City), and Dirty South Classics (Southern rap hosted by Trick Daddy and Trina). Rockstar also posted sample clips of each station on its site. And the company confirmed that protagonists Jason and Lucia will each get on-demand podcasts, played through earbuds wired to their in-game phones, separate from the radio dial.
GTA's radio stations have always done double duty as marketing and world-building, not just background noise, and this rollout, about five weeks before launch, fits Rockstar's usual drip-feed of hype. Lining up country, African, Latin, and Southern rap stations with genre-specific celebrity hosts suggests GTA 6's world is built to mirror real streaming-era listening habits, not the classic-rock loops of past entries.
Fans are already crowdsourcing every confirmed track, because apparently waiting five weeks for the actual game is too long.
