The TCL NXTPAPER 14, a 256GB tablet bundled with a stylus and case, hit its lowest price ever at $349.98, down from $469.99. The Amazon Fire HD 10 dropped to a record-low $72.99, a 53% cut, though that price applies to the ad-supported model. Kindle Scribe deals split in two: a new 16GB unit is $284.99, about 21% off its $359.99 list price, while a separate like-new 64GB unit is $319.99, close to half of what a new 64GB Scribe usually costs.\n\nThe iPad discount matters less for the dollar amount and more as a signal that device prices might finally be stabilizing after a rough year for memory costs. The e-reader market, meanwhile, is fragmenting: Amazon is selling refurbished units at steep discounts while smaller brands like Xteink chase the pocket-sized niche with a $69.99 four-inch reader, undercutting even the cheapest Kindle.\n\nNone of this is new technology. It's just old technology on sale, which is really all a fall shopping event can promise.","[\"tablets\",\"e-readers\",\"amazon\",\"prime-day\"]","2026-10-06T16:32:58.000Z","2026-10-07T03:50:57.025Z","2026-10-07T03:51:02.698Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"Fix the Kindle Scribe math: the dek calls it a 'half-price Kindle Scribe' and the body repeats 'nearly half its original price,' but the $284.99 16GB unit is discounted from $359.99 (about 21% off), not half off — that framing only applies to the 64GB like-new unit in the source, so either correct the discount percentage or clearly specify which Scribe configuration the 'half price' comparison refers to.","resolved","deals",[32,33,34,35],"tablets","e-readers","amazon","prime-day",[37],{"name":38,"url":39},"Lifehacker","https:\u002F\u002Flifehacker.com\u002Ftech\u002Fbest-tablets-ipads-deals-october-prime-day-2026?utm_medium=RSS",0,{"sections":42},[43,48,53,58,62,67,72,77,82,87,92,97,102,107],{"name":44,"slug":45,"count":46,"latest_published_at":47},"AI","ai",6369,"2026-10-07T14:12:37.000Z",{"name":49,"slug":50,"count":51,"latest_published_at":52},"Security","security",897,"2026-10-07T19:53:42.000Z",{"name":54,"slug":55,"count":56,"latest_published_at":57},"Policy","policy",470,"2026-10-06T19:55:11.000Z",{"name":59,"slug":30,"count":60,"latest_published_at":61},"Deals",435,"2026-10-07T23:01:39.000Z",{"name":63,"slug":64,"count":65,"latest_published_at":66},"Hardware","hardware",220,"2026-10-07T19:59:32.000Z",{"name":68,"slug":69,"count":70,"latest_published_at":71},"Science","science",186,"2026-10-06T21:20:39.000Z",{"name":73,"slug":74,"count":75,"latest_published_at":76},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",172,"2026-10-07T17:41:41.000Z",{"name":78,"slug":79,"count":80,"latest_published_at":81},"Software","software",111,"2026-10-07T17:47:14.000Z",{"name":83,"slug":84,"count":85,"latest_published_at":86},"Startups","startups",106,"2026-10-06T20:00:30.000Z",{"name":88,"slug":89,"count":90,"latest_published_at":91},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",105,"2026-10-07T16:59:11.000Z",{"name":93,"slug":94,"count":95,"latest_published_at":96},"General","general",59,"2026-10-07T21:16:18.000Z",{"name":98,"slug":99,"count":100,"latest_published_at":101},"Gaming","gaming",56,"2026-10-07T12:00:00.000Z",{"name":103,"slug":104,"count":105,"latest_published_at":106},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":108,"slug":109,"count":110,"latest_published_at":111},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
