A limited-run Pokemon TCG expansion box just got a real price cut, but it is still not the cheapest way to get the card inside.
Amazon dropped the Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection featuring Alolan Exeggutor to $53.98, down from its $69.99 list price, a $16.01 cut, or about 23% off. The listing is sold by third-party seller BetterShopping4You, with free delivery and Amazon's standard 30-day refund or replacement window. Inside the box are three 30th Celebration booster packs, an Alolan Exeggutor foil promo card, and a matching tech sticker sheet. That works out to roughly $18 per booster before counting the promo card or stickers.
The catch is that Amazon's discount is not actually the best deal on this box. Walmart lists the same collection for $52.49, though buyers get a random pull between Alolan Exeggutor and Lucario rather than a guaranteed choice. TCGplayer's cheapest sealed Alolan Exeggutor listing runs $41.48 shipped, twelve dollars less than Amazon and even below the card's own $42.94 estimated market value.
For a set that also includes chase cards like a $3,500-plus RGB Rare Mew, a 23% markdown on the sealed box is a fine deal. Just not the one worth taking if a calculator is handy.
