Amazon is selling the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Ascended Heroes Mega Meganium ex Box for $59.99 as of October 26, a $20 (25%) drop from its $79.99 list price.
The listing is from a third-party seller, Collectors Expedition, which also ships the box. Delivery is expected by November 4. Amazon's 30-day refund or replacement window still applies, according to the deal listing. The price is also below the one offered in July, and close to the lowest Amazon has charged for the box.
The box holds four Ascended Heroes booster packs, a playable foil promo of Mega Meganium ex, and an oversized lenticular version of the same card. Divide $59.99 by four and each pack costs roughly $15, with both promos riding along.
That per-pack figure is the useful number. Nobody buys this box for the packs alone. The price only makes sense if you value the two Meganium cards, or if you want any sealed product from an expansion that is popular and hard to find. If neither applies, the discount is mostly a smaller markup.
The chase cards put the gamble in perspective. The expansion's top special illustration rares (SIRs) are listed at $700+ for Mega Gengar ex, $600+ for Pikachu ex, and $400+ for Mega Dragonite ex. Four packs is a thin number of draws against prizes that valuable. A buyer who wants one of those cards can purchase it as a single on TCGplayer for a known price, rather than spending $59.99 on a lottery ticket that also happens to include a Meganium.
So the sensible split is simple. Collectors of the Meganium promos or sealed product get a fair deal here. Players chasing a specific card are better served by the singles market, where the price is printed on the listing.
