Pokemon Legends: Z-A just got cheaper, and the price cut outlived Prime Day.
Amazon is still selling the Nintendo Switch version for $39.88, down from $59.99, and the Switch 2 version for $39.99, down from $69.99. Released last October, the game ditches the series' usual turn-based combat for real-time battles set in a Paris-inspired version of Lumiose City. You still catch, train, and trade pokemon as usual. A $29.99 Mega Dimension expansion is sold separately, and a bundled Switch 2 Edition with the base game and DLC included arrives October 29 for $99.99.
Buying the base game and DLC separately right now still costs less than that upcoming bundle, so there's little reason to wait for October 29 unless you want the Switch 2 packaging. It's also a useful data point on how Nintendo is testing real-time combat in a franchise that has run on turn-based battles for three decades, continuing the Legends subseries' habit of poking at mechanics longtime fans assumed were fixed.
Nintendo rarely discounts its own first-party games this much, so the sale is the actual news here, not the real-time battle system.
