A 36-pack box of Pokémon Delta Reign booster packs is down to $249.45 on Amazon, but Walmart lists it for less.
The box, which the trade calls a display box, carries a $279.99 list price. The Amazon offer takes $30.54 off, an 11% cut, and comes from a third-party seller called Kings Games rather than from Amazon itself. On October 8, the same box was $269.99 on Amazon, so the new price is $20.54 lower. Delivery can arrive as soon as November 9, three days after the November 6 release.
Walmart is cheaper at $229.99, also through a third-party seller. That saves another $19.46 over the Amazon price, with delivery expected November 16. For comparison, the trading card marketplace TCGplayer puts the estimated market price $16.37 above Walmart's, which works out to about $246.36, and its lowest listing is $244.70.
That context matters. Against list price, $249.45 looks like a real discount. Against what the card market says the box is worth, it sits roughly $3 above the estimate and about $5 above the cheapest listing. The deal is good, not exceptional.
The per-pack math is $6.93 across 36 packs, which means 360 random cards, not counting Energy and code cards. The set itself runs 135+ cards.
The real cost of Walmart's discount is a week: its delivery date falls seven days after Amazon's, and 10 days after the set goes on sale. Whether $19.46 is worth waiting that long depends on how badly a buyer wants to open packs on release week.
