Amazon is selling the Pokemon 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box for $89.99, roughly half its $178.63 market price - if you can get picked to buy one.
The box is currently listed at $89.99 on Amazon, an $88.64 discount off the $178.63 price tracked by TCGPlayer. Demand is high enough that Amazon isn't just selling it outright: shoppers have to click a "request invite" button and get chosen in a random ballot. Winners receive an email with a purchase link that expires in 72 hours, and Amazon says it keeps unselected requests on file in case of restocks. The box itself packs nine 30th Celebration booster packs, a foil Nidorina promo, 16 foil Basic Energy cards, 65 sleeves, dice, a coin, dividers, a player's guide, and a Pokemon TCG Live code.
Pokemon TCG product has turned into one of retail's most reliably flippable categories, and a ballot system is really just rationing for a market where resellers would otherwise clear the stock in seconds. A price this far under secondary-market value says less about Amazon being generous and more about how stretched collectible-card pricing has become this year.
Translation: even winning the ballot doesn't mean beating the market, just briefly getting in before the scalpers do.
