PixelBoard Mod Brings Pixel 11 Dictation to Any Android

A sideloaded Gboard mod ports Google's Rambler dictation and other Pixel 11 AI writing tools to non-Pixel Android phones.

Google built Rambler for the Pixel 11. A modded keyboard app just broke that exclusivity.

Rambler is Google's AI dictation tool. It cleans up speech as you talk, cutting filler words like "um," fixing grammar, and catching corrections mid-sentence (say "pick up whole milk, I mean oat milk" and it types "pick up oat milk"). Google limited it to Pixel 11 phones. Developer Akshay Kadam modded Gboard to add it anyway, calling the result PixelBoard and posting it on GitHub. Kadam describes it as a "supercharged Gboard mod" that also carries over the Pixel 11's AI writing tools, running alongside the stock Gboard app without root access.

This is the same pattern that's played out with Pixel camera ports and Magisk modules for years: Google ships a software feature as hardware-exclusive marketing, and someone reverse-engineers it loose within weeks. It's a reminder that "Pixel-exclusive" software features are usually licensing decisions, not technical ones.

Installing PixelBoard means sideloading an unofficial APK from GitHub, not the Play Store, so the usual sideloading caution applies. If Google wants Rambler to stay a selling point, it'll need an actual technical moat, not just a settings flag.
