Google has started rolling out Call For Me, a Gemini feature that lets an AI join part of a phone call, to a limited set of Pixel 11 users.
The feature is going out first to select Gemini subscribers who own a Pixel 11, according to Google. Call For Me lets the phone's AI assistant carry part of a conversation during a call, though Google has not detailed which tasks it can handle without a human taking over. The company is calling this a preliminary rollout, meaning the feature is likely to change before it reaches more users. Google has not said when Call For Me will reach the broader Pixel 11 lineup or other phones.
AI phone calling has mostly lived in demos and keynote videos until now. Handing it to real users, even a small group, suggests Google thinks the underlying model is ready for live conversation, not just scripted show floor tricks. It also puts Gemini's voice features in direct competition with the AI assistants Apple and Samsung have promised for calls but not yet widely shipped.
A limited rollout is exactly the setting to find out if Call For Me actually saves anyone time, or just inserts an AI chaperone into calls people would rather make themselves.
