Oppo just put three 200-megapixel sensors on the back of one phone, a first for the industry.
The Find X10 Pro Max, launched today in China, packs 200-megapixel sensors into all three rear cameras, housed in a raised square island with a separate bar for the flash and an extra sensor. Oppo says its new "DeepPix sensor technology" gives the main camera 17 stops of dynamic range. An orange accent line ties the design to Oppo's ongoing camera-focused lineup. Oppo hasn't said whether or when the phone will reach markets outside China.
Megapixel count stopped being the main driver of phone image quality years ago, once sensor size, lens quality, and computational processing took over - which is likely why Oppo is leading with a dynamic-range claim instead of the raw 200MP figure. Running three high-resolution sensors at once also means three times the processing load, so the real test is whether Oppo's hardware and software can handle that without over-processing every shot.
