Apple restricts its best Siri AI to just three iPhones.
The company’s newest on-device model, called AFM Core Advanced, is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Those handsets get a larger language model, faster on‑device processing and offline query support that the rest of the lineup lacks. The feature rollout was announced alongside iOS 18 but no software update expands the model to older devices.
The limitation matters because most iPhone owners will continue using a slower, cloud‑reliant Siri experience. Competitors that offer full‑device AI on a broader range of hardware now have a clearer benchmark to beat, and privacy‑focused users lose a potential benefit.
In short, Apple’s premium‑only AI may look impressive, but it reinforces a pattern of squeezing advanced features into its flagships while leaving the rest of the fleet behind.
