The company calls it a world model, a system trained on large amounts of visual data to predict how a scene will unfold. Odyssey says the same model can control robot arms and humanoids, drive a car, fly drones and play video games. It's available now as a preview, not a finished product.\n\nRobotics has long relied on separate, specialized systems for each kind of machine: one stack for warehouse arms, another for self-driving cars, another for drones. If a single world model can genuinely generalize across all of them, it could cut the cost of building and training machines for new tasks. That's a big if resting on a research preview, not independent testing.\n\nPlenty of AI labs have chased a model that understands physics and motion the way humans do. Shipping one that holds up outside a demo video is the harder part.","[\"ai\",\"world-models\",\"robotics\"]","2026-10-08T16:21:29.000Z","2026-10-09T12:17:02.748Z","2026-10-09T12:17:06.704Z","published",null,[],"ai",[24,26,27],"world-models","robotics",[29],{"name":30,"url":31},"The Next Web","https:\u002F\u002Fthenextweb.com\u002Fnews\u002Fodyssey-3-world-model-robots-humanoids-cars-drones",0,{"sections":34},[35,39,44,49,54,59,64,69,74,79,84,89,94,99],{"name":36,"slug":24,"count":37,"latest_published_at":38},"AI",6532,"2026-10-08T18:19:45.000Z",{"name":40,"slug":41,"count":42,"latest_published_at":43},"Security","security",922,"2026-10-08T16:05:00.000Z",{"name":45,"slug":46,"count":47,"latest_published_at":48},"Policy","policy",478,"2026-10-08T15:24:40.000Z",{"name":50,"slug":51,"count":52,"latest_published_at":53},"Deals","deals",471,"2026-10-08T18:48:11.000Z",{"name":55,"slug":56,"count":57,"latest_published_at":58},"Hardware","hardware",227,"2026-10-08T18:23:28.000Z",{"name":60,"slug":61,"count":62,"latest_published_at":63},"Science","science",188,"2026-10-08T15:28:36.000Z",{"name":65,"slug":66,"count":67,"latest_published_at":68},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",180,"2026-10-08T18:21:59.000Z",{"name":70,"slug":71,"count":72,"latest_published_at":73},"Startups","startups",117,"2026-10-08T16:45:00.000Z",{"name":75,"slug":76,"count":77,"latest_published_at":78},"Software","software",114,"2026-10-08T17:57:01.000Z",{"name":80,"slug":81,"count":82,"latest_published_at":83},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",105,"2026-10-07T16:59:11.000Z",{"name":85,"slug":86,"count":87,"latest_published_at":88},"General","general",64,"2026-10-08T18:36:05.000Z",{"name":90,"slug":91,"count":92,"latest_published_at":93},"Gaming","gaming",57,"2026-10-08T15:18:41.000Z",{"name":95,"slug":96,"count":97,"latest_published_at":98},"Reviews","reviews",34,"2026-10-08T14:00:22.000Z",{"name":100,"slug":101,"count":102,"latest_published_at":103},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
