Odyssey-3 is one AI model, and the company says it can drive a car, pilot a drone and run a humanoid robot.
Palo Alto startup Odyssey released a research preview of Odyssey-3 on Thursday. The company calls it a world model, a system trained on large amounts of visual data to predict how a scene will unfold. Odyssey says the same model can control robot arms and humanoids, drive a car, fly drones and play video games. It's available now as a preview, not a finished product.
Robotics has long relied on separate, specialized systems for each kind of machine: one stack for warehouse arms, another for self-driving cars, another for drones. If a single world model can genuinely generalize across all of them, it could cut the cost of building and training machines for new tasks. That's a big if resting on a research preview, not independent testing.
Plenty of AI labs have chased a model that understands physics and motion the way humans do. Shipping one that holds up outside a demo video is the harder part.
