Nintendo confirmed a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2.
The announcement came during a Nintendo Direct on Tuesday. The game will launch sometime in 2026 on the Switch 2, though no specific date or pricing was given. It is the first flagship Zelda release since 2024’s Echoes of Wisdom, which centered on Princess Zelda herself. Earlier this year Nintendo also rolled out a new hack‑and‑slash spin‑off, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and upgraded Tears of the Kingdom and Echoes of Wisdom for Switch 2.
The remake updates a cornerstone title with the new hardware’s capabilities, giving both newcomers and veterans a chance to experience the game with higher fidelity. It also signals Nintendo’s intent to keep its most iconic franchises tied to the Switch 2 ecosystem.
Expect the usual polishing – higher resolution, smoother frame rates – but no guarantees the changes will feel fresh to long‑time fans.
