Apple's new Apple TV 4K ships November 13 with a faster chip, Siri AI, and a remote that can be found when it inevitably vanishes into the couch.
The $299 box swaps in an A19 chip for up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the graphics speed of the outgoing A15 model, and likely doubles RAM to 8GB, though Apple hasn't confirmed that spec. It adds Siri AI, which answers general questions on its own but needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad nearby for anything involving personal context. Three built-in far-field microphones let you talk to it hands-free, and it now supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and AV1/VP9 video. Apple also simplified the lineup to a single 128GB model with Ethernet, dropping the cheaper 64GB Wi-Fi-only option that existed before. The redesigned Siri Remote adds Find My and Precision Finding support plus a built-in speaker, so losing it under the couch cushions is now a solvable problem, though Precision Finding needs an iPhone 17 or newer.
Apple is quietly turning the Apple TV into a secondary Siri AI access point rather than just a streaming box, extending the feature back to 2021 and 2022 models via a tvOS update. That's a notable concession - Apple rarely backports flagship software features to three-generation-old hardware, which suggests the Siri AI push is about ecosystem reach, not new hardware sales.
The remote's Find My trick is genuinely useful and overdue - Roku and Amazon Fire TV remotes have offered similar locator features for years.
