At specific steps late in the model's internal denoising process, it uses the model's own attention patterns to find a target object in the footage, then injects the appearance of a separate reference object into that spot, timed for the moment when the object's shape has formed but its surface look can still change. A momentum-based correction step carries that injected look across subsequent frames so the swapped-in object doesn't flicker or drift. On an Nvidia A100 GPU, rendering takes about 3.2 seconds per frame, not counting setup.

Most video-editing AI needs either a model trained specifically for that edit or a separate tool to locate objects in the frame first. MoCA-Video skips both, which could make this kind of object-insertion edit cheaper to build into other software. The strongest results, though, rest on a metric the same researchers created: CASS, a CLIP-based score that measures how far an edited video's imagery shifts toward the reference object and away from the original prompt. MoCA-Video reportedly scores highest on CASS and on ImageReward, a separate score estimating how appealing an image looks to people, but the paper does not publish the actual numbers or margins. Two other metrics tracking frame-to-frame smoothness (LPIPS-T) and overall video quality (FVD) reportedly show trade-offs rather than a clean win.

A three-second-per-frame render time is fine for a research paper. Real-time video editing this is not - yet.","["ai","video-editing","generative-ai","research"]","2026-09-30T04:00:00.000Z","2026-09-30T19:56:17.616Z","2026-09-30T19:56:23.337Z","published",null,[24
"editor-r1","editor",1,"The draft cites MoCA-Video 'leading' on CASS and ImageReward without explaining what ImageReward measures or giving any actual comparison figures/baseline numbers, so soften or remove the unsupported 'leads on' claim and clearly define every metric named.","resolved","ai",[30,32,33,34],"video-editing","generative-ai","research",[36
arXiv cs.AI","https://arxiv.org/abs/2506.01004",0
42,45,49,53,58,63,67,72,77,81,86,91,96,101
"AI",5183
"Security","security",791
"Policy","policy",417
"Deals","deals",284,"2026-09-29T21:00:00.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",194,"2026-09-29T13:16:04.000Z
"Science","science",155
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",142,"2026-09-29T18:38:03.000Z
"Software","software",91,"2026-09-25T20:55:00.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",90
"Startups","startups",83,"2026-09-29T21:51:36.000Z
"General","general",49,"2026-09-28T16:44:57.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",48,"2026-09-25T18:35:21.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",31,"2026-09-28T14:31:34.000Z
"How-To","how-to",6,"2026-06-16T09:00:00.000Z"]
