Motorola just showed off a phone running Qualcomm's newest top-tier chip, and it looks nothing like a typical flagship.
Motorola is the first company to announce a phone built around Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the chipmaker's new top-end processor. The device, called the Signature 27, has a thin aluminum body available in two colors: a woven-texture "Pantone coal smoke" black and a feather-inspired "Pantone capulet olive" green. Motorola has not released full specs, pricing, or a launch date. What we know so far is limited to the chip and the design.
Being first to announce a phone with Qualcomm's flagship silicon is a marketing win, not a shipping one. Motorola still has to turn heads with a phone nobody can actually buy yet. The unusual textures and paint-chip color names suggest Motorola is betting on personality over spec-sheet bragging rights to stand out in a crowded flagship field.
Announcing first is not the same as shipping first, and until Motorola sets a release date, this is a spec sheet with a paint job, not a product.
