Each 8-pin connector delivers up to 150W, so four together match the 16-pin's 600W ceiling. The kit tricks the card's sense pins into recognizing the full 600W. The creator claims testing up to 800W with a shunt mod, and says it can run alone or alongside the native connector as a load spreader.\n\nThe math explains the appeal. At 600W, the 16-pin connector pushes 50A through six power pins, each rated for 9.5A. That is about 8.33A per pin, uncomfortably close to the limit. Spread the same load over 12 pins and each carries roughly 4.17A, about half. Most 16-pin fixes are adapters that tidy up the plug. This one removes the bottleneck instead. The fact that it targets both the original 12VHPWR and the revised 12V-2x6 connector tells you owners still want a workaround.\n\nThere are caveats. 8-pin connectors can still fail, just less often, and the maker has not shared a release date, price or installation instructions. Soldering onto a card now listed at $8,500 is a brave hobby, and the safety claims remain one person's testing.","[\"rtx 5090\",\"gpu\",\"power connector\",\"modding\"]","2026-10-17T15:20:00.000Z","2026-10-17T22:01:50.884Z","2026-10-17T22:01:53.102Z","published",null,[],"hardware",[26,27,28,29],"rtx 5090","gpu","power connector","modding",[31],{"name":32,"url":33},"Tom's Hardware","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.tomshardware.com\u002Fpc-components\u002Fgpus\u002Fquad-8-pin-mod-protects-the-usd8-500-rtx-5090-you-cant-replace-from-melting-modders-custom-power-solution-claims-to-fix-nvidia-16-pin-gpu-meltdowns",0,{"sections":36},[37,42,47,52,57,61,66,71,76,81,86,91,96,101],{"name":38,"slug":39,"count":40,"latest_published_at":41},"AI","ai",7038,"2026-10-17T19:58:31.000Z",{"name":43,"slug":44,"count":45,"latest_published_at":46},"Security","security",1001,"2026-10-17T22:20:00.000Z",{"name":48,"slug":49,"count":50,"latest_published_at":51},"Policy","policy",538,"2026-10-17T19:38:12.000Z",{"name":53,"slug":54,"count":55,"latest_published_at":56},"Deals","deals",521,"2026-10-17T07:00:00.000Z",{"name":58,"slug":24,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Hardware",260,"2026-10-17T19:55:36.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",235,"2026-10-16T23:36:26.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":68,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Science","science",202,"2026-10-16T11:00:53.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Startups","startups",133,"2026-10-14T19:51:34.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Software","software",128,"2026-10-14T22:23:48.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":84,"latest_published_at":85},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",116,"2026-10-13T16:20:18.000Z",{"name":87,"slug":88,"count":89,"latest_published_at":90},"General","general",81,"2026-10-16T16:06:38.000Z",{"name":92,"slug":93,"count":94,"latest_published_at":95},"Gaming","gaming",77,"2026-10-17T16:59:39.000Z",{"name":97,"slug":98,"count":99,"latest_published_at":100},"Reviews","reviews",37,"2026-10-14T10:00:00.000Z",{"name":102,"slug":103,"count":104,"latest_published_at":105},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
