Meta wants your next game idea to come from a text prompt, not a game engine.
On September 24, 2026, Meta announced two new tools for its Horizon platform: Horizon Create, a mobile app that turns AI prompts into playable games, and Horizon Studio, a browser-based tool with more granular controls for building the same experiences. Both are launching in early access, and Meta is running a waitlist for developers who want in. Games built with either tool can also be surfaced through Facebook and Instagram, where they'll be directly playable inside those apps.
Horizon has never found the audience Meta hoped for, and asking people to learn a full creation suite hasn't helped that problem. Routing AI-made games into Facebook and Instagram feeds is the real move here: it swaps 'go download a metaverse app' for 'here's a game already in your feed,' a much lower bar for anyone to clear.
It's the same playbook Roblox and Fortnite ran with user-generated content, except Meta is betting AI prompts can replace the years of tooling and community those platforms built first.
