Instagram's Edits app now has an AI assistant that tells creators why their Reels didn't land.
The feature, built into Meta's standalone Edits video tool, pitches new content ideas, explains what a creator's audience tends to respond to, and surfaces trending audio tracks. It works from a creator's own content and performance history rather than generic tips. Meta is careful to frame the tool as analysis, not authorship: the company says it only "does the digging," leaving the actual writing, filming, and editing to the human. The assistant rolled out as part of the Edits app this week.
For creators, this is a shift from guessing why a video underperformed to getting a tool that at least gestures at an explanation. It also puts Meta in the same lane as YouTube Studio and TikTok's creator analytics, both of which already break down audience retention and traffic sources, though neither pitches new content ideas the way this assistant claims to.
Whether an AI explaining a flop beats a shrug is still an open question.
