Manus just landed a funding round north of $500 million, its first since parting ways with Meta.
Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round. Existing shareholders Tencent, HSG (the firm formerly known as Sequoia China), and ZhenFund all came back for another check, alongside other unnamed participants. The source does not disclose a valuation, a share structure, or what Manus plans to do with the cash.
The bigger signal here is who showed up, not just how much they brought. Tencent and HSG re-upping after the Meta relationship ended suggests Manus's domestic backers are not spooked by the split. For a Chinese AI company, a round this size led by Boyu and IDG also reads as a vote of confidence from investors who have seen plenty of AI hype cycles come and go.
A $500 million-plus check is a big number with very few other numbers attached to it. Until Manus or its backers say what the money buys, this is a funding announcement, not a product story.
