A robot lawn mower just got $300 cheaper, right before the holiday that's supposed to make everything cheaper.
Amazon has marked down the Mammotion Luba Mini 2 AWD robot mower to $1,699, down from its $1,999 list price, as of Sept. 30. The cut lands about a week before October Prime Day officially kicks off on Oct. 6. The mower uses 360-degree LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) paired with dual-camera AI vision to map a yard and dodge obstacles as it goes. It climbs slopes, trims close to edges, and either follows mowing zones set through an app or gets dropped straight onto the lawn and starts cutting on its own via DropMow mode.
Robot mowers have stayed a rich-person's toy, typically running $1,500 to $3,000 or more, so a sub-$1,700 price on a model with real obstacle-avoidance hardware is worth noting. Buying now, months before mowing season starts, is also the smarter play than gambling on a Prime Day flash sale that may not beat this price anyway.
Call it the off-season version of buying a parka in July: less exciting, same savings.
