That is the same animation iOS and iPadOS use when you long-press an app, and its arrival on the Mac is the latest in a string of touch-gesture additions in this beta cycle. Apple is reportedly readying higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models - some reports call them \"MacBook Ultra\" - with touchscreens, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner-and-lighter design, and a Dynamic Island. A launch is expected as soon as October or November, possibly alongside Apple's own C1X or C2 modem for built-in cellular.\n\nApple has spent over a decade insisting touchscreens don't belong on a Mac. Software tells you what hardware is coming before marketing does, and these UI details matter more than another leaked render because they show Apple's own engineers building for a touch target, not just rumor sites guessing. If this ships, it's the clearest sign yet that Apple is finally conceding a point a decade of competing Windows laptops already made.\n\nMicrosoft has sold touchscreen laptops since 2012; Apple just needed fourteen years and an OLED upgrade to agree it was a good idea.","[\"apple\",\"macos\",\"macbook-pro\",\"touchscreen\"]","2026-10-06T18:22:57.000Z","2026-10-07T05:44:45.310Z","2026-10-07T05:44:50.760Z","published",null,[],"hardware",[26,27,28,29],"apple","macos","macbook-pro","touchscreen",[31],{"name":32,"url":33},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F10\u002F06\u002Fmacos-27-2-hints-at-macbook-with-touchscreen\u002F",0,{"sections":36},[37,42,47,52,57,61,66,71,76,81,86,91,96,101],{"name":38,"slug":39,"count":40,"latest_published_at":41},"AI","ai",6524,"2026-10-08T14:28:03.000Z",{"name":43,"slug":44,"count":45,"latest_published_at":46},"Security","security",918,"2026-10-08T14:20:00.000Z",{"name":48,"slug":49,"count":50,"latest_published_at":51},"Policy","policy",475,"2026-10-08T14:04:42.000Z",{"name":53,"slug":54,"count":55,"latest_published_at":56},"Deals","deals",465,"2026-10-08T14:36:55.000Z",{"name":58,"slug":24,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Hardware",225,"2026-10-08T13:10:18.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Science","science",187,"2026-10-07T04:00:00.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":68,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",178,"2026-10-08T14:16:37.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Startups","startups",115,"2026-10-08T14:16:56.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Software","software",113,"2026-10-07T18:10:00.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":84,"latest_published_at":85},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",105,"2026-10-07T16:59:11.000Z",{"name":87,"slug":88,"count":89,"latest_published_at":90},"General","general",62,"2026-10-08T14:00:00.000Z",{"name":92,"slug":93,"count":94,"latest_published_at":95},"Gaming","gaming",56,"2026-10-07T12:00:00.000Z",{"name":97,"slug":98,"count":99,"latest_published_at":100},"Reviews","reviews",34,"2026-10-08T14:00:22.000Z",{"name":102,"slug":103,"count":104,"latest_published_at":105},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
