Koofr wants to sell you a way off the cloud storage subscription treadmill: one payment, then storage for as long as the company lasts.
The offer, currently running through StackSocial, gets you 1TB of Koofr cloud storage for a single $199.99 payment instead of the regular $810 price. Files are encrypted at rest and in transit, and Koofr says it does not track usage. The service works across phones and computers, supports WebDAV, and can pull in existing Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon, and OneDrive accounts so scattered files show up in one place. It also includes a duplicate finder and advanced renaming tools for cleaning up the files you already have.
The appeal is obvious: no more recurring charge quietly renewing every month. That only pays off, though, if Koofr sticks around. Lifetime storage deals are only as durable as the company selling them, and a smaller provider folding or getting acquired is a real risk that a monthly Dropbox or Google Drive bill does not carry.
If you are the type who already juggles four cloud accounts and has never once audited what you are paying for all of them, this is at least a one-time decision instead of an infinite one.
