Amazon has the JBL Go 5 down to $39.95, its lowest price since launch.
The speaker normally sells for $54.95, and the current $15 discount matches price-tracking data showing this is the best deal yet. The Go 5 is about four inches wide and weighs just over half a pound, with an IP68 rating that beats the water and dust resistance of the Go 4. JBL rates battery life at up to eight hours, or around 10 hours with its Playtime Boost mode enabled. New additions include USB-C audio playback, Bluetooth 6.0 with LC3 codec support, and a feature called AirTouch that pairs two Go 5 units for stereo sound by tapping them together.
None of this moves the needle for existing Go 4 owners - the core listening experience is largely unchanged, and the Go 5 still is not loud enough for anything bigger than a small gathering. What has changed is the value equation: at $40, buyers get tougher build quality and a handful of connectivity extras without paying more or stepping up to a bigger speaker.
It is a minor refresh dressed up as a deal, which is the usual move in the budget-speaker market.
