JBL's Live 780NC over-ear headphones cost $139.95 at Amazon, down from $249.95. That is a $110 cut, about 44%, and price trackers show it as the lowest price the headphones have reached.
The spec sheet is crowded for the money. The headphones have active noise cancellation (ANC), 40mm drivers with a 10Hz to 40kHz frequency range, and Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC and LE Audio, two options for higher-quality wireless listening on compatible devices. Multipoint lets you connect two devices at once, and a proximity sensor pauses playback when you take them off. JBL's app adds a 10-band equalizer, preset profiles, personalized sound settings and virtual spatial audio.
Battery life is the headline number. JBL claims up to 80 hours with ANC off and up to 50 hours with it on. Those are the company's figures, not independent tests. Comfort looks like a priority too: adjustable metal sliders, pivoting earcups, and earcups that fold flat for packing.
Then come the catches. One published review found the default tuning pushes the bass too hard. The app's equalizer is the obvious fix. The noise cancellation is not quite as effective as on some higher-end rivals, and no setting changes that. The headphones have no water or sweat resistance, which rules out workouts and rainy walks. The included soft pouch also protects less than a hard case would.
Sorted that way, the flaws are mostly fixable or situational. A bass-heavy tuning is a few minutes of tweaking, and gym use is a choice you can skip. Weaker noise cancelling is the one that matters for a commuter or an open-plan office, and it is the one thing the price cut does not address.
Amazon hasn't said how long the price will last, and deal prices can change. For anyone who values battery life and a comfortable fit over top-tier noise cancelling, that is a reason to decide sooner rather than later.
