Shipping estimates for online orders moved to January 25 shortly after pre-orders opened and have not budged since. Apple said it expects stock to sell out fast because of "extraordinary" demand, which is the company's own description and comes with no unit numbers.

The launch-day plan splits the world in two. Apple Stores in 16 countries will hold a limited number of units for walk-in buyers, including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain and Singapore. Italy is limited to select stores, and Macao gets stock on launch day only. In 10 places, including France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and South Korea, there is no walk-in stock at all, and buyers need a reservation for store pickup. Apple's website says to check back on October 24 for those slots.

The geography is the interesting part. Several of the reservation-only markets are large ones, so Apple appears to be rationing supply by location as well as by time. The source does not say why, and Apple has not said how many phones exist, so "extraordinary demand" and "thin supply" are indistinguishable from the outside. Either would produce the same sold-out screens.

For buyers, the practical advice is blunt: a launch-day purchase or a lucky pickup reservation is the best shot at getting one this year. Some carriers and big-box stores may also have units.

New Zealand has no Apple Store, so Australian store stock is the first real preview of what walk-in availability looks like elsewhere. Whether those shelves empty within hours or last the day will say more about supply than any press statement.","["apple","iphone-duo","foldables","launch"]","2026-10-22T22:21:59.000Z","2026-10-22T23:15:16.529Z","2026-10-22T23:15:18.196Z","published",null,[],"consumer-tech",[26,27,28,29],"apple","iphone-duo","foldables","launch",[31
MacRumors","https://www.macrumors.com/2026/10/22/iphone-duo-australia-launch/",0
37,42,47,52,57,62,65,70,75,80,85,90,95,100
"AI","ai",7065,"2026-10-22T21:51:25.000Z
"Security","security",1057,"2026-10-22T15:11:26.000Z
"Policy","policy",574,"2026-10-22T20:23:48.000Z
"Deals","deals",559,"2026-10-22T21:00:00.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",288,"2026-10-22T17:25:00.000Z
"Consumer Tech",285
"Science","science",216,"2026-10-22T22:12:19.000Z
"Startups","startups",144,"2026-10-22T23:15:00.000Z
"Software","software",142,"2026-10-23T00:09:58.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",122,"2026-10-21T16:00:00.000Z
"General","general",98,"2026-10-22T21:07:09.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",88,"2026-10-22T22:25:33.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",38,"2026-10-20T12:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
