It also points to a landscape-facing front camera, a redesigned speaker system without visible speaker holes, Apple's own N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and a C1X or C2 modem for cellular models. IP-rated water resistance would be a first for the mini, and graphics performance is expected to jump by roughly 2.5x over the current A17 Pro. An October launch is considered likely.\n\nThe RAM increase matters more than it sounds: 8GB has been the ceiling for running Apple's on-device AI features smoothly, and the leak notes 12GB would let the mini support customizable Siri voice options. Combine that with an OLED panel the mini has never had, and Apple looks to be closing the gap between its cheapest tablet and the Air and Pro lineups rather than treating it as a budget afterthought.\n\nNone of this comes from Apple, and if this year's base iPad mini price hike is any guide - Apple blamed rising memory and storage costs for a $100 increase in June - the OLED model probably won't be cheap.","[\"ipad mini\",\"apple\",\"oled\",\"leak\"]","2026-09-30T15:54:43.000Z","2026-10-01T02:49:12.496Z","2026-10-01T02:49:17.249Z","published",null,[],"consumer-tech",[26,27,28,29],"ipad mini","apple","oled","leak",[31],{"name":32,"url":33},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F09\u002F30\u002Fipad-mini-8-rumored-features\u002F",0,{"sections":36},[37,42,47,52,57,62,67,71,76,80,85,90,95,100],{"name":38,"slug":39,"count":40,"latest_published_at":41},"AI","ai",5236,"2026-09-30T20:13:50.000Z",{"name":43,"slug":44,"count":45,"latest_published_at":46},"Security","security",799,"2026-09-30T19:29:08.000Z",{"name":48,"slug":49,"count":50,"latest_published_at":51},"Policy","policy",426,"2026-09-30T19:46:31.000Z",{"name":53,"slug":54,"count":55,"latest_published_at":56},"Deals","deals",298,"2026-09-30T21:00:26.000Z",{"name":58,"slug":59,"count":60,"latest_published_at":61},"Hardware","hardware",196,"2026-09-30T13:00:00.000Z",{"name":63,"slug":64,"count":65,"latest_published_at":66},"Science","science",157,"2026-09-30T15:00:56.000Z",{"name":68,"slug":24,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Consumer Tech",148,"2026-09-30T17:53:35.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",92,"2026-09-30T18:17:45.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":74,"latest_published_at":79},"Software","software","2026-09-30T17:45:00.000Z",{"name":81,"slug":82,"count":83,"latest_published_at":84},"Startups","startups",83,"2026-09-29T21:51:36.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Gaming","gaming",50,"2026-09-30T16:24:30.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"General","general",49,"2026-09-28T16:44:57.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Reviews","reviews",31,"2026-09-28T14:31:34.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"How-To","how-to",6,"2026-06-16T09:00:00.000Z"]
