Apple's first iOS 27.3 developer beta, released November 3, tests 10 features. The one with the most consequence is Siri AI's new ability to take actions inside 15 built-in apps.
Those apps are Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather. Siri could organize your Downloads folder, delete files untouched for more than a year, set up an event around your free time, or schedule, edit, or unsend a message. Developers can add the same support to their own apps.
The rest of the list is a grab bag. The redesigned Health app returns with a dashboard, Health Age, and movement assessments, after Apple pulled it before the iOS 27.2 release. Fitness+ gets Gym Strength, a personalized four-week strength plan. Safari gains vertical tabs on iPad and Mac, plus Adaptive Dark Mode, which forces a dark theme on sites without one. StandBy picks up new clock and Photos faces that were previously exclusive to the iPhone Duo, and the Duo gets its own version of Reachability. Siri AI adds Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Norwegian, and iPads get Siri Mode in Camera.
The watch-linked Audio Intelligence features are also in testing. Live Rewind shows a transcript of the last 15 seconds of a conversation, and Siri Recap summarizes the day's chats. Apple says the system never records or stores audio, identifies no speakers, and deletes text results after a set period unless the user saves them.
The split inside this update is telling. Vertical tabs and a built-in dark mode are catch-up work: browser fans have long wanted the first, and third-party apps already handle the second. Siri's app actions are different, because their value depends on how many developers opt in. An assistant limited to Apple's own apps has a ceiling, and the developer hook is how Apple plans to raise it.
As with any beta, anything here could change before release. The Health redesign has already shown how that works: it appeared in the 27.2 beta and vanished before launch.
