iOS 27.2 Hits Release Candidate With More Siri AI Languages

Apple's iOS 27.2 release candidate adds Siri AI languages, an alternative tracking prompt in the EU, and small app tweaks, a week after the fourth beta.

Apple has moved iOS 27.2 to the release candidate stage, which expands Siri AI to more languages and adds a different tracking prompt for users in the European Union.

The company seeded the iOS 27.2 RC and the matching iPadOS 27.2 RC to developers a week after the fourth beta. Registered developers can install it by opting in under Settings > General > Software Update and selecting the iOS 27 developer beta.

The headline addition is language support. Siri AI is coming to new languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The rest of the list is minor: Call Context supports anniversary alerts, Apple Music gets a new icon, and the Apple TV app is also touched, though no details came with that item.

The EU change is the most unusual entry. The update supports an alternative expanded prompt for App Tracking Transparency, the pop-up that asks users whether an app may track them across other companies' apps and websites. Nothing in Apple's notes explains what the expanded prompt says or why it applies only in the EU, so how it differs from the standard version is unknown for now.

A release candidate is normally a build Apple considers ready to ship. If testing turns up no serious bugs, it typically goes out unchanged as the public release. A fourth beta followed by an RC a week later suggests the feature set is settled.

That makes 27.2 a feature update rather than a repair job. Language expansion is the sort of change that matters most to people outside Apple's home market, and a region-specific prompt shows that some iOS features now ship differently by region. Apple has not said whether the EU prompt is a one-off or the first of several regional variants.
