iOS 27.2 Beta Adds Toggles to Silence Messages Suggestions

Apple's returning Suggested Actions feature will let users individually switch off calendar, reminders, maps, and flight prompts in Messages.

Apple is giving iPhone users more say over how often Messages tries to be helpful.

Suggested Actions, the contextual one-tap buttons that first showed up in iOS 27 betas before getting yanked from the final release, is back in the iOS 27.2 beta. The feature scans conversations and offers to act on them: tap to add a photo someone asked for, drop an invite into Calendar, or pull up an address in Maps. According to a beta tester's screenshots, iOS 27.2 beta 3 adds a dedicated settings screen with separate toggles for each suggestion type - Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show in Maps, and Flights and Packages. A "Hide Unused Suggestions" switch will also auto-hide any suggestion category you ignore for 30 days, and you can bring it back by flipping its toggle off and on again.

Apple cut this exact feature from iOS 27's final release after testing it in beta, which is a tell: whatever shipped in that first attempt was annoying enough, or buggy enough, to pull. Granular toggles plus an auto-hide timer for ignored suggestions read like a direct fix for "the suggestions are in my way," not just a re-launch of the same feature.

iOS 27.2 is also set to bring a redesigned Health app and more Siri languages. For a feature that got yanked once already, shipping it back with built-in kill switches is the smart move - assuming Apple finally gets the defaults right this time.
