iOS 27 developer beta 1, released on June 8, 2026, contains code snippets that reference a foldable display. The beta includes a new framework called FoldableKit and an undocumented enum FPCDeviceMode in the file /System/Library/Frameworks/FoldableKit.framework/Headers/FPCDevice.h. The same file also calls a private API _setHingeAngle: that only makes sense on a device with a moving screen.
If the symbols are real, developers could someday target a hinge‑aware UI. For now the only evidence is a single post on 9to5Mac that copies the beta’s directory listing. Apple has not issued a statement, and the symbols could be placeholders or test code.
Until Apple ships a foldable iPhone—or at least confirms the SDK—this remains speculative code buried in a beta build.
