Home Depot has started discounting cordless tools from DeWalt, Ryobi, Milwaukee and Makita, weeks before the Black Friday sales proper.
The four headline deals all sit at Home Depot. The Ryobi ONE+ 18V four-tool combo kit costs $199, down from $249. It packs a drill/driver, an impact driver, a 5-1/2-inch circular saw and an LED work light, plus two batteries (one compact, one 4.0 Ah). The Milwaukee M12 brushless cordless ratchet is $299, down from $399. Makita's 18V LXT brushless impact wrench kit is $539 with a buy-one-get-one-free offer. It puts out 430 ft-lbs of torque and includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a rapid charger. The DeWalt 20V Max drill and impact driver kit is $239 on its product card, with two batteries, a charger and a bag.
The numbers need a careful read. The roundup's summary box lists that DeWalt kit at $178 (save $60), a different price from the $239 on the card, so confirm at checkout. In the secondary list, a DeWalt impact driver at $129 from $169 is labeled a $110 saving, and a Milwaukee blower at $129 from $239 is labeled $40. The arithmetic suggests those two labels are swapped.
The better value is in batteries and bundles. A DeWalt 20V XR starter pack with 8.0Ah and 4.0Ah batteries and a charger is $199, down from $329. Milwaukee's eight-tool M18 combo kit is $649, half off its $1,298 price. The Makita deal works out to roughly $270 per tool if you count both.
The batteries are the real purchase. The Ryobi listing says its packs work with every tool in the ONE+ lineup, and the same logic holds for each brand's platform: DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita and Ryobi batteries do not swap with one another. A cheap kit locks you into whichever platform you pick, so choose the battery system before the tool.
