The laptop is still expected to launch later this month.\n\nThe walk-back is a reminder that even well-sourced supply-chain reporting can shift as a product nears launch and engineering tradeoffs get locked in. Thinner and lighter sound like a matching pair in marketing copy, but they are different manufacturing problems - one is about chassis depth, the other about materials and battery weight. Apple appears to have solved the second without touching the first.\n\nIf the OLED MacBook Pro ends up the same thickness as the current model, the headline feature will just be the screen - which, after a two-year buildup of leaks, might be the most Apple outcome imaginable.","[\"apple\",\"macbook-pro\",\"oled\",\"mark-gurman\"]","2026-10-08T08:30:04.000Z","2026-10-09T07:02:40.426Z","2026-10-09T07:02:45.939Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"Verify or drop the specific 'April 2025' attribution to Gurman's 'thinner and lighter' claim—the source material provided is garbled\u002Ftruncated at that point and doesn't actually substantiate the date, and the piece otherwise relies on a single uncorroborated outlet.","resolved","hardware",[32,33,34,35],"apple","macbook-pro","oled","mark-gurman",[37],{"name":38,"url":39},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F10\u002F08\u002Foled-macbook-pro-wont-be-thinner\u002F",0,{"sections":42},[43,48,53,58,63,66,71,76,81,85,90,95,100,105],{"name":44,"slug":45,"count":46,"latest_published_at":47},"AI","ai",6520,"2026-10-08T12:00:20.000Z",{"name":49,"slug":50,"count":51,"latest_published_at":52},"Security","security",912,"2026-10-08T10:30:00.000Z",{"name":54,"slug":55,"count":56,"latest_published_at":57},"Policy","policy",475,"2026-10-08T14:04:42.000Z",{"name":59,"slug":60,"count":61,"latest_published_at":62},"Deals","deals",464,"2026-10-08T14:30:00.000Z",{"name":64,"slug":30,"count":65,"latest_published_at":18},"Hardware",223,{"name":67,"slug":68,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Science","science",187,"2026-10-07T04:00:00.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",175,"2026-10-08T09:16:05.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Software","software",113,"2026-10-07T18:10:00.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":79,"latest_published_at":84},"Startups","startups","2026-10-07T23:36:57.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",105,"2026-10-07T16:59:11.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"General","general",61,"2026-10-07T22:00:24.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Gaming","gaming",56,"2026-10-07T12:00:00.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":106,"slug":107,"count":108,"latest_published_at":109},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
