Google Photos is expanding its AI suite with a feature called Wardrobe that will automatically catalog clothing items from users’ photo libraries.
The tool works by analyzing pictures that already contain apparel—vacation snaps, street‑style shots, even receipts—and then creates a searchable inventory of tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories. Google announced the feature in a blog post on April 29, 2026 and said it will begin rolling out to Pixel and Android users worldwide on June 12, with an iOS version to follow later in the year. The company described Wardrobe as “a simple way to see what you own without opening your closet.”
For everyday users, the benefit is a quicker way to decide what to wear, especially when the physical closet isn’t at hand. It also opens the door to future integrations like outfit suggestions or shopping links, though those remain speculative.
The launch is another incremental AI add‑on for Google Photos, not a radical shift in how we manage wardrobes.
