Google is expanding Gemini so it can work directly with Android contacts. The assistant will be able to answer calls, draft replies and perform contact‑based actions without opening separate apps.
The move pushes Gemini deeper into everyday phone use, making AI a default part of communication flows rather than an optional add‑on. Users may find routine interactions faster, but the integration also raises privacy questions about how much of a conversation the model can see.
Google has said the feature will appear on supported Pixel phones in a phased rollout, starting with newer models. How quickly it spreads to other Android manufacturers remains to be seen.
