Businesses can choose a realistic human avatar or a cartoon character, and either one can see users through a live video feed, hold a conversation in 97 languages, and never break character. Google demoed the feature handling a hotel check-in and, separately, dispensing cat advice over a live video chat. The company says SynthID watermarking is built in as a safeguard alongside the multilingual rollout.\n\nA face changes how people behave. Users tend to treat a friendly avatar like a person instead of software, and that trust makes them share more on camera and in voice than they would typing into a text box. For a company that already profits from knowing what people want, a chatty avatar is also a camera and a microphone with better manners.\n\nCall it customer service if you like, but an avatar that never blinks and never breaks character is still collecting exactly what Google has always wanted: your face, your voice, and your words, all in one friendly package.","[\"gemini\",\"ai avatars\",\"data privacy\",\"google\"]","2026-10-04T12:00:00.000Z","2026-10-06T09:52:29.300Z","2026-10-06T09:52:35.544Z","published",null,[],"ai",[26,27,28,29],"gemini","ai avatars","data privacy","google",[31],{"name":32,"url":33},"Mashable","https:\u002F\u002Fmashable.com\u002Ftech\u002Fgoogle-gemini-live-avatar-ai",0,{"sections":36},[37,41,46,51,56,61,66,71,76,81,86,91,96,101],{"name":38,"slug":24,"count":39,"latest_published_at":40},"AI",6340,"2026-10-05T21:19:03.000Z",{"name":42,"slug":43,"count":44,"latest_published_at":45},"Security","security",877,"2026-10-05T21:10:00.000Z",{"name":47,"slug":48,"count":49,"latest_published_at":50},"Policy","policy",457,"2026-10-05T21:15:05.000Z",{"name":52,"slug":53,"count":54,"latest_published_at":55},"Deals","deals",354,"2026-10-05T20:30:00.000Z",{"name":57,"slug":58,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Hardware","hardware",210,"2026-10-05T21:14:08.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Science","science",182,"2026-10-05T18:58:12.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":68,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",161,"2026-10-05T18:18:56.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Software","software",103,"2026-10-05T18:23:19.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",99,"2026-10-05T10:47:06.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":84,"latest_published_at":85},"Startups","startups",96,"2026-10-05T20:24:09.000Z",{"name":87,"slug":88,"count":89,"latest_published_at":90},"Gaming","gaming",54,"2026-10-05T19:07:04.000Z",{"name":92,"slug":93,"count":94,"latest_published_at":95},"General","general",52,"2026-10-05T17:01:27.000Z",{"name":97,"slug":98,"count":99,"latest_published_at":100},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":102,"slug":103,"count":104,"latest_published_at":105},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
