Gemini now creates actual files instead of plain text.
On April 29, Google announced that Gemini can generate Microsoft Word (.docx) and LaTeX documents directly. The feature debuts in Gemini Pro and will be enabled for all paid subscribers beginning May 1. Users simply ask the model for a file and receive a downloadable document, eliminating the copy‑paste step.
This matters because it streamlines workflows that currently require separate formatting tools. Writers, researchers, and students can keep their content in the proper file type from the start, reducing friction and potential formatting errors.
The rollout is limited to the paid tier for now, so free users still have to paste output manually.
