Amazon's cheapest 4K streaming stick just got cheaper.
Amazon dropped the Fire TV Stick 4K Select to $17.99, down from its $49.99 list price - a 64% cut and the lowest price the device has hit. The deal landed on October 5, days ahead of Amazon's own Prime Day sales event. The stick streams in 4K Ultra HD with HDR10+, bundles a remote that controls TV volume and power, and ships with the newer Alexa+ recommendation features. It also runs Xbox Cloud Gaming for Game Pass subscribers, turning any HDMI port into a makeshift console.
Amazon routinely discounts its own hardware right before Prime Day, using thin margins on cheap devices to pull shoppers into its ecosystem for pricier add-on purchases later. At under $18, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select comes in well below the typical asking price for entry-level 4K streamers from Roku and Google, though it ties you more tightly to Amazon's apps, ads, and Alexa.
A deal this close to Prime Day is also a preview: expect this same stick to resurface at a similar price once the event officially kicks off.
